Ocala Art Group Spring Fling Show at the Appleton Museum of Art on May 1, 2010 Ocala Art Group artists turned out for O.A.G.'s first annual Spring Fling, a May Day extravaganza, al fresco, in the courtyard of the Appleton Museum of Art. Thirty cheerful and energetic artists took part in what turned out to be a first rate art exhibit, arriving early, smoothly checking in through the Museum's security and setting up around the dancing waters of the fountain in the center of the atrium. The Café was decorated with colorful french tablecloths and the finger food (peanut candy bars, health bars, biscotti), iced tea, Starbuck's Frappachino and water seemed adequate to quench a thirst and provide a little snack for those in need of a sweet treat. The day turned hotter and hotter as the sun rose overhead and it became necessary pack up at 2:30, an hour and a half earlier than planned. Once again, the pack up and exit from the museum went swimmingly and our undying thanks goes to the Security Guards who helped carry and guide and remain good humored when faced with all of that artwork coming and going from the Museum. Summing up, we feel that this was a fantastic "drill", if you will, and our next attempt at an outdoor show will take place earlier in the Spring with more much needed publicity. Bravo, you fantastic Ocala Art Group artists! |
