OAG November 2011 Ocala Art Group Presents: Grace Senior Morandi Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, South America, Grace began her artistic school-ing with private classes at Colegio Nuestra Senora de Lourdes, Colombia as well as classes with a great maestro of art, Alejan-dro Obregon. Years later Grace moved to the U.S.A. where she furthered her art education at many noteworthy institutions as well as studies in Mexico and Europe. After raising her two boys she returned to the spotlight in 1986 and won first prize in 3D art hosted by a Tampa TV station. Then she went on to win Best Still Life at the Tampa Realistic Art Cen-ter. Then she began studying art on a large scale. Grace has won nu-merous awards over the years including, 2011 Best of Show, Marion Cultural Alliance, The Art of Illustrations.
Grace has donated her time and artistic abilities to many non-profit organizations over the years. This year she was an art teacher for the Healing Hearts program for Alzheimer & Dementia patients—part of the current Appleton Museum exhibition. Grace’s artwork resides in numerous public and private collections throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Spain, Greece, Ecuador, Pa-nama and India. Grace is constantly testing new ground by switching mediums to communicate her artistic vision. She says of her work, “I under-stand art as the expression of my inner feelings not a copy of existing objects. In my opinion, art is a way of transforming ob-jects into feelings and color ex-presses the moods and emo-tions”.
