Ocala Art Group The Ocala Art Group was established in Ocala in 1950, making our organization the oldest of its kind in Central Florida. The artists have come and gone through the years, but the quality of the work and the enthusiasm of our members insure that the arts remain alive and healthy, no matter the economic climate. The Ocala Art Group is a not-for-profit educational corporation and our membership is open to all who share an interest in developing and promoting fine art. We provide programs, demonstrations and workshops that appeal to every art enthusiast and we sponsor at least four art shows a year with all member participation. In addition, this year Artists from the OAG will have an opportunity to participate at the Appleton Museum After Hours. This is a fun night of live music, food and now you can meet with some of the local artists. The community will have an opportunity to dialogue with the artists and view a demonstration at each event. The dates for the Appleton After Hours are Oct 13, Nov 3 Dec 1 (2011), Feb 2, March 1, April 5, and May 3 (2012) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Meetings are open to the public and are held at the Appleton Museum of Art, 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd. (http://www.appletonmuseum.org) on the second Wednesday of each month throughout the year (except when the Appleton is closed). There is a fee to enter the Appleton Museum. A Meet and Greet with refreshments served begins at 11:00 a.m. in the café lobby with the membership meeting and demonstrations beginning promptly at Noon in the auditorium.
